WHY UX MATTERS

UI VS UX

What's the difference between UI and UX?

They work together, but they solve different problems — and great products need both.

🧭

UX — user experience

UX design is about how a product works. It covers research, user journeys, information architecture, wireframes and usability testing, so people can reach their goal quickly and without confusion.

  • User research & personas
  • Journeys & user flows
  • Wireframes & prototypes
  • Usability testing

🎨

UI — user interface

UI design is about how a product looks and feels. It covers layout, colour, typography, icons, micro-interactions and the design system that keeps every screen consistent and on-brand.

  • Visual design & branding
  • Typography & colour
  • Components & design systems
  • Motion & micro-interactions

At TECHTARN, one team handles both — so research insights carry straight through to the final pixels and the code that ships.

OUR PROCESS

The Double Diamond design process

We go wide to understand the problem, focus on the right one, explore solutions, then deliver the best.

01

Discover

Research users, goals and competitors to find the real problem.

02

Define

Turn insights into a clear brief, user flows and priorities.

03

Develop

Explore ideas with wireframes and prototypes, then test them.

04

Deliver

Polish the final UI, build the design system and hand off to developers.

RESPONSIVE BY DEFAULT

One design, every screen

Every interface is designed mobile-first and adapts cleanly to tablets and desktops. Switch devices to see it in action.

Mobile — thumb-friendly, single-column layout

DESIGN SYSTEMS

Change one token, update everything

A design system keeps every screen consistent and makes changes fast. Colours, type, spacing and components are defined once and reused everywhere — in Figma and in code, for example as React components.

Try it: pick a brand colour and watch every component update.

FAQ

UI/UX design FAQs

Answers to common questions about our design process.

How much do UI/UX design services cost?
Cost depends on the number of screens, the depth of research, whether you need a design system and how many platforms are involved. A landing page redesign is a small project, while a full SaaS product with a design system is larger. Share your project on our contact page for a clear estimate.
How long does a UI/UX design project take?
A website or small app usually takes a few weeks. Larger products with research, testing and a design system take longer. You see progress every week, with clickable prototypes early on.
Which design tools do you use?
We mainly design in Figma, with FigJam and Miro for workshops, Framer and Protopie for advanced prototypes, and Maze and Hotjar for testing and analytics. You get full access to all design files.
Can you also develop what you design?
Yes. Our developers turn designs into production code — websites, mobile apps and custom software in React, Next.js and Flutter — so what launches matches the design.
Do you design for accessibility?
Yes. We follow WCAG guidelines for colour contrast, text size, keyboard navigation and screen-reader support, and can run an accessibility audit on your existing product.
Can you redesign our existing product without starting over?
Yes. We start with a UX audit, fix the biggest problems first and roll out improvements step by step, so users aren't disrupted. Our CRO team can then measure the impact.
