A lab dip is a small fabric sample dyed to match a target colour. It is sent to the buyer for approval before bulk dyeing. Several rounds may be needed before a colour is approved.
Delta E (ΔE) measures the difference between two colours. Smaller is closer. Many buyers accept around 1.0 or less, but tolerances vary by buyer and fabric.
Each submit is logged with the round, date, recipe, ΔE reading, buyer comments and decision. You see rounds per colour and time to approval.
A tech pack holds everything needed to make a style: sketches, measurements, materials, trims, colourways, artwork and construction notes.
A strike-off is a printed or embroidered test on fabric, sent for approval before bulk printing.
After bulk dyeing, rolls are grouped into close shade groups. Approved bands guide which rolls can be used together.
