FAQ

Secondary sales questions

Answers for sales, supply chain and IT teams.

What are secondary sales?

Secondary sales are what your distributors sell to retailers. Primary sales are what you sell to distributors, and tertiary sales are what retailers sell to shoppers. Secondary sales are the closest daily signal of real market demand.

Why track secondary sales, not just primary?

Primary sales can look healthy while stock piles up at distributors. Secondary sales show whether that stock is actually moving to shops, so you can plan production, schemes and targets on real demand.

What is ECO in FMCG?

ECO, or effective coverage, is the number or share of outlets on a beat that placed at least one order in the period. It shows how much of your market is actually buying.

What are lines per call and drop size?

Lines per call (LPC) is the average number of different SKUs on each order. Drop size is the average value of each order. Together they show how well reps are selling the range.

How do you collect secondary sales from distributors?

From your rep app orders, the distributor's DMS, their Tally or accounting software, EDI feeds from modern trade, or scheduled Excel uploads. Most brands use a mix.

Can targets and incentives use secondary sales?

Yes. Targets can be set by rep, distributor, outlet and SKU, and incentives calculated on verified secondary sales instead of self-reported numbers.

Does the rep app work offline?

Yes. Reps can take orders, check in and capture stock offline, and data syncs when the phone is back online.

How long does it take to set up?

Usually 6 to 10 weeks, depending on the number of distributors and integrations. This is an estimate.

Can it work with our existing ERP?

Yes. It can run in our Distribution ERP or connect to your current ERP, Tally or Dynamics through APIs.
