♻️ Plastics and rubber ERP · Regrind and scrap
Weigh every runner, reject and purge by reason. Grind what you can into tracked regrind lots, blend it back within each product's limit, and sell the rest. See scrap by machine and mould, and the virgin resin you saved.
Set your blend. Each product shows OK or over its limit, and the saving per tonne of material at your resin price. Limits are examples; set your own.
Tile size shows each reason's share of scrap. Hover a tile for detail. Runners are often the biggest, which is why hot runner upgrades pay back. Example month.
Relative impact strength by regrind generation · example, varies by material
Each melt and grind can lower properties a little. The ERP tracks how many times material has been reground and stops it going into parts that need virgin-like strength.
Bars show kilograms purged at each colour change. Press the button to re-order jobs light to dark and watch the purge drop. Example week.
Purge this week 29 kg

Regrind is plastic scrap, such as runners, sprues and rejected parts, ground into flakes and fed back into production with virgin resin. Used within limits, it cuts material cost without hurting quality.
It depends on the product and customer. Many general parts allow 10% to 30%, while medical, optical or some food-contact parts may allow none. The ERP stores each product's limit and checks it when material is issued.
Each time material is melted and reground, its properties can drop slightly. Tracking generations lets you limit how many times material is reused for demanding parts.
Operators or scales record scrap weight by reason, such as start-up rejects, short shots, flash or purge, against the machine, mould, shift and job.
Running jobs from light to dark colours, and grouping similar colours, cuts the purge needed between jobs. The ERP can suggest a sequence and track purge weight per change.
It is stored as saleable scrap by grade, weighed, sold with an invoice and gate pass, and the value is credited back.
Virgin resin replaced by regrind is valued at the resin price, minus grinding cost. Scrap reduction is tracked as kg and percentage of material issued.
Yes. Rubber trim, flash and rejects can be recorded by reason; reuse rules are set per compound where reuse is allowed.
